![]() In efforts to further promote vocational education, Clapper's Building Materials, Inc., in conjunction with True Value and their Tools for Tomorrow program, sponsers an annual award in three different school districts within Somerset County. The All-American Vocational Student Awards program recognizes senior students who achieve prescribed standards of excellence in vocational and academic skills, and who exhibit leadership in their communities. The awards correspond with National Vocational Education Week, usually the second week in February. The three participating schools are Meyersdale Area High School, Rockwood High School, and the Somerset County Vocational Technical School. This years winners received a $100 Savings Bond and a plaque from Clappers and Servistar. Winners advance to the state competition. State winners recieve a $500 Savings Bond and are entered into the national competition. This year's winners are listed below.
Since its inception in 1992, the Tools for Tomorow program has honored more than 12,000 students with over $1.5 million in scholarships and awards. This year, more than $270,000 will be awarded to outstanding vocational-technical students on local, state, and national levels.
